In 2025, we present the theme "The Filter Era: Perception and Reality – Through Taiwan's Lens", inviting creators worldwide to participate in scriptwriting and explore the power of reflection and the profound impact of perspective reshaping. This competition aims to inspire creators to delve beyond surface appearances, uncovering deeper truths through the richness of Taiwanese culture and the art of cinema. By showcasing cultural diversity, identity, and the multifaceted nature of the world through storytelling, we seek to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of different perspectives.

18 years and above no nationality restrictions.

STATUS

Students, amateur creators, and professional screenwriters are welcome to participate. (Supplementary: individuals or groups)

Originality

Entries must be original works of the author and must not have been published or filmed publicly.

  • Screenplay Requirements
    Theme Direction: Explore the tension between “perception and reality,” focusing on the dialogue between appearance and inner essence. The creation should reflect Taiwanese culture, perspectives, or elements, and revolve around “reflection and reshaping” for narrative development. Genre: Drama, fantasy, thriller, science fiction, documentary-style narrative, etc. are all acceptable, but they must have cultural depth and emotional connection. Language: Screenplays in Chinese or English are acceptable (if in Chinese, an English abstract is required). Length: Short screenplay 10-25 pages Format: Follow standard screenplay format, use 12-point Courier font, single line spacing, and submit a PDF document. (Format: The Chinese screenplay format needs to be accompanied by a case because there are many types of Chinese screenplay formats. There needs to be an example as a standard. The English version is basically a unified format.) Provide an outline
  • Submission Regulations
    Registration Fee: Free Open for Submission: February 28, 2025 (23:59 Pacific Time). Submission Deadline: August 15, 2025 (23:59 Pacific Time) (interlaced with the important dates below) Submission Method: Submit through the official website of the film festival, including the following information: Screenplay PDF document Author’s introduction (maximum 200 words) Brief synopsis of the screenplay (maximum 300 words) Number of Works: Each participant can submit up to 1 work.
  • Copyright Statement
    The copyright of all entries belongs to the author. The organizers reserve the right to display them in film festival-related activities. If the winning work is selected as a film to be shot, the production details need to be negotiated with the organizers.
  • Important Dates
    Registration Deadline: July 1, 2025 Announcement of Shortlisted Entries: July 30, 2025 (TOP 3) TOP 3 7-minute Pitch: September 5, 2025 (held during the film festival) Awards Ceremony: September 6, 2025 (held during the film festival closing)
